Uluwatu (Suluban) is Bali's most famous left-hand reef break, a chain of connected sections (Racetrack, Peak, Bombie, Outside Corner, Temples) peeling over shallow, sharp coral reef under consistent SW Indian Ocean swell. It suits intermediate-to-advanced surfers best; most schools instead teach beginners at nearby sand-bottom Bukit beaches (Dreamland, Padang Padang, Balangan, Nusa Dua) that the same operators cover. Crowds are heavy, especially at Peak and Outside Corner. Best on a mid tide, low tide exposes the reef on bigger swells, during the dry season (April-October) when SW groundswell and offshore trades line up.
